Information about Dunsmuir Lodge
Where
are you located?
Located
15 miles (22km) north of Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia,
and situated high on the forested slope of Mount Newton, Dunsmuir
Lodge commands superb one hundred and eighty degree views of the North

How
do I get there?
The Lodge is
linked through Victoria International Airport, just 5 minutes away,
to the hub airports of Vancouver BC and Seattle WA. Major airlines
servicing Victoria, with over 40 flights daily, include the regional
carriers for Air Canada (Tango and Jazz) and Alaska Airlines (Horizon
Air), plus Westjet, Helijet Airways, Pacific Coastal Airlines, Harmony
Airways, Sky Service and Jetsgo. For private aircraft, the Shell
Aerospace Centre (adjacent to the Victoria airport) offers arrival,
departure, parking, refueling and other service options. The BC
Ferry terminal at Swartz Bay and the Washington State Ferry terminal
in Sidney are also just a few minutes away. Complimentary transportation
to and from Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay and
Sidney ferry terminals is provided for overnight guests.
How
many meeting rooms are there?
The
Lodge offers 15 meeting rooms ranging in size from 200 to 2,000
square feet. Every meeting room is equipped with high speed internet
connections and digital speaker phones with voice mail. Particular
attention has been paid to natural light and fresh air, provided
by panoramic view windows in each meeting room. At the heart of
the operation is a new 52 seat tiered lecture theatre and classroom
boasting total internal and external connectivity.
How
many bedrooms do you have?
There
are 45 air conditioned guest bedrooms, four with attached living
rooms. Standard amenities include high speed internet connections
and voice mail messaging. Each guest bedroom is furnished with two
double beds (31 rooms) or one king sized bed (14 rooms). Every room
is at least 360 square feet, with appointments designed to provide
convenience and relaxation. Although bedrooms are sold mainly in
conjunction with conferences and meetings, Dunsmuir Lodge has also
been accredited a 3-1/2 star rating in the Canada Select Program,
and bedrooms are available for individual or social travel, space
permitting.
Is the
Lodge wheelchair accessible?
The Lodge is
comprised of 3 floors and a sub-basement. There is an elevator that
provides wheelchair access to all floors. There are also specially
designed washrooms that accommodate wheelchair and other requirements.
There are 3 handicapped parking stalls directly outside the front
doors of the building. Two areas of the Lodge are not directly accessible
to wheelchairs at present because they are separated from the main
floor by 3 steps...the Panorama Lounge on the 3rd floor and the
Exercise Area in the sub-basement level. Future upgrading to the
building will include the provision for wheelchair access to the
Panorama Lounge. All bedroom doors are fitted with a keyless entry
system and automatic door closers. While the Lodge is currently
not equipped with automatic front entry doors for disabled access,
the outside elevation of the main entry is at normal sidewalk height
and access to the front doors is provided by a clearly marked ramp.
Do
you offer audio visual aids?
Included
in the cost of your booking are a wide range of standard audio visual
aids for both large and small meetings. Specialized equipment including
all the advanced technology available in our Executive Classroom
can be booked in advance. Our conference office staff will be happy
to offer assistance and expertise in planning your meeting.
Do
you offer food services?
The
success of your event will be enhanced by tastefully presented meals
with an emphasis on fresh seafood and local organic produce. The
Lodge's dining facilities can be configured to accommodate various
sized parties, with private dining areas available. Up to 200 persons
may be seated at a time in the dining room. The dining room is also
open to the public, space permitting. Reservations are required.
What
other hospitality services do you offer?
To complement your conference or training program, our full banquet
and reception facilities include two large reception areas with
panoramic views, fireplaces and comfortable conversational areas.
The Peninsula Lounge (our bar) is open every day for Lodge guests,
and offers a lighter food service option in the evenings with availability
to the public from 4:00pm. The Panorama Lounge may be booked for
special events. The Lodge also offers a 120 seat banquet hall for
larger private functions and special events.
